NotebookLM, developed by Google Labs and powered by Gemini, is an intelligent research assistant launched in 2023 (initially named “Project Tailwind”). It allows users to upload documents—such as PDFs, Google Docs, web pages, slides, audio, and even YouTube videos with transcripts—and interact with them through conversational queries, grounded summaries, study guides, and podcast-style Audio Overviews. Recently added features include: Mobile app for iOS and Android with download-and-listen offline capabilities, real-time “join the conversation” interactivity, and easy content sharing. Audio Overviews now available in multiple styles like Deep Dive, Brief, Critique, and Debate, supporting over 80 languages. Enterprise-level features with NotebookLM Enterprise offering enhanced security, data residency, compliance, and admin controls within Google Cloud. Expanded availability to younger users (13+) and education accounts, with stricter content filters applied under age 18.
